By Greg Tataro, Jr.

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, Feb. 21 (PIA) – Ten pairs of brides and grooms are set to tie the knot at 9:00 a.m. today, Feb. 21 in a mass wedding ceremony arranged by the Civil Registrar’s Office in Tandag City.

Dubbed as “Kasalan ng Bayan,” Liza Auza, local civil registrar, said that the occasion would be officiated by Mayor Alexander Pimentel.

"It would take place at the lobby of the City Hall," she said.

Over a month ago, the City Civil Registrar’s Office called on and urged “couples” here who had been cohabiting for not less than five years to avail of the offer, saying it would be all for free.  In fact, a public service announcement in this regard had been sent to media outfits, citing thereat specific requirements to be accomplished.

The decades-long mass wedding project of the city government which has become an annual event coincides with the observance of the Civil Registration Month. (Radyo Pilipinas-Tandag/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
