CCPD to hold 1st Pentecost celebration in Butuan

BUTUAN CITY, June 1 (PIA) - The Caraga Conference for Peace and Development (CCPD) will hold its first Pentecost celebration as part of the Jubilee celebration of the Diocese of Butuan on June 3, 2017 here.

According to CCPD convenor Bishop Juan De Dios Pueblos of the Dioces of Butuan, the Butuan Evangelist Ministry (BEMAI) and other stakeholders in the city will also join the said event, which will start at 1:00 p.m. at the Big Daddy’s Hotel and Convention Center.

“We hope to achieve our common aspiration to live in unity, harmony and peace with one another regardless of religious belief, culture and status in life," said Bishop Pueblos.

Pueblos said the Diocese of Butuan is committed to pursue its mission on spiritual well-being of the faithful and the spirit of solidarity, co-existence, aspiration and partnership with Christian churches in the city.

Sibagat town’s Sinamay shines in 'Buy Caraga by Caraga' fair product parade

PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur, June 1 - The Sinamay (woven abaca fiber) from the town of Sibagat of this province joined select pieces from the other provinces in the region in the product parade during the ‘Buy Caraga by Caraga’ Regional Trade Fair held recently at the Robinsons Place’ Atrium, Butuan City.

The product parade is one of the opening program highlights during the regional trade fair, which ran from May 16 (soft opening) to May 20.

The fair with the theme “Go loco with local” featured products from the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Province of Dinagat Islands including special setting for products from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)’s Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) MSMEs and producers assisted under the Great Women Project 2.

Agusan del Sur producers who joined the fair include Jannicah food products/Hills View Food Products, Bundy Wine, Shalom Herbal Products, RDP Foods Products, Gwaps Food Products, Buena Palma Corporation, Sunrise Corn Coffee, RIC of Prosperidad and Sibagat Federation of Abaca Weavers Association, Incorporated. DSWD Caraga provides 10,000 family packs to Marawi siege victims

BUTUAN CITY, June 1 - The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Caraga provided augmentation support on Saturday, May 27, 2017 by sending 10,000 Family Food Packs (FFPs) for the victims displaced due to the on-going gun fight between the government forces and local terrorist in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.

Each family food pack consists of 6 kilos of rice, 6 canned goods, and 8 sachets of 3-in-1 coffee. Also, the department will deliver an additional of 5,000 malong and 1,000 hygiene kits for the families who are currently staying in the evacuation centers in Region X and ARRM.

The total cost of assistance amounts to around 4 million pesos.

Meanwhile, DSWD Caraga OIC regional director Mita Chuchi Gupana-Lim calls for unity in helping the families affected by the siege.
