Duterte assures AFP, families of sustainable livelihood

BUTUAN
CITY, June 17 (PIA) – To address the needs and concerns of the Armed Forces of
the Philippines (AFP), President Rodrigo Duterte said that he will allocate
P50-billion trust fund to be utilized until the end of his term for livelihood
and educational assistance.
The
president assured this to the AFP as he delivered his speech during his visit
at the 4th Infantry Division Advance Command Post, this city.
Pres.
Duterte reiterated the sacrifices of the army troopers as they fulfill their
responsibilities to the Filipino people and the country. He also encouraged them to continue their
fight against illegal drugs and terrorism. “I know you are doing your job. You
take the risks when you are in the field, that’s how determined and committed
you are in fighting against crime and terror that is brought by the terrorist
group,” stressed Pres. Duterte.
Pres.
Duterte, further highlighted that the said allocation intended for the AFP will
not be used for any other attributions, but will only be spent for the welfare
of the AFP that will also support the livelihood and education of their
children.
The
president has also awarded the military merit medals to the 11 soldiers and led
the donning of rank to Col. Cristobal N. Zaragoza, 401st Brigade commander.

Pres.
Duterte clarifies health condition

BUTUAN
CITY, June 17 (PIA) – During his interaction with the media on Saturday, in
time with his visit at the 4th Infantry Division Advance Command Post of the
Philippine Army here, President Rodrigo Duterte has cleared up the rumors and
clarified that he was not in a coma.
“Hindi
ako na-coma, but I stayed in my kama. Wrong spelling – coma, kama (I was not in
coma, but I stayed in my kama. Wrong spelling, from coma, it’s kama (bed),” the
president explained.
Duterte
said that he does not need to divulged any information to anybody if he needs
to go "incognito."
It
can be recalled that after skipping the 119th Independence Day Rites on Monday,
the president has never been seen in public.
Pres.
Duterte added that he was not suffering from sickness and that people should
not worry much about his health.
“My
state of health is immaterial. I called on the public not to worry much about
my health condition, it has nothing to do with my absence in some of my

PRRD
to give merit awards to best performing soldiers

CITY, June 17 (PIA) - President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is set to give awards to
the four Philippine Army personnel during his visit at the 4th Infantry
Division Advance Command Post (4IDACP) in Brgy. Bancasi at 3:00 p.m. today.
In
recogition to the meritorious perfomances of valiant military men in service,
the President, to be assisted by MGen. Benjamin R. Madrigal, Jr. and Col.
Cristobal N. Zaragoza, shall lead the awarding of Military Merit Medals to the
following soldiers: 1Lt. Melvin Allan T. Medrano and 1Lt. Chenly Pasanting (3rd
Special Forces Battalion); 1Lt. Gerald F. Gaston (29th IB); SSgt. Narding N.
Pascual (26IB); and 1Lt. Aldim T. Viernes (26IB).
Also,
PRRD will administer the donning of rank to Col. Cristobal N. Zaragoza as he
will be promoted one rank higher from colonel to brigadier general.
The
traditional "Talk to Troops" will then follow. Right after his
message, he is expected to join a long table boodle fight, a military manner of
eating, with soldiers and other guests.

Pres.
Rodrigo Duterte to visit 4ID Advance Command Post in Butuan City

BUTUAN
CITY, June 17 (PIA) – In his third official visit in Caraga region, President
Rodrigo Roa Duterte will meet the uniformed men and women of the Armed Forces
of the Philippines during a traditional “Talk to Troops” to be held at the 4th
Infantry Division Advance Command Post (4IDACP) in Brgy. Bancasi at 3:00 p.m.
today.
Upon
his arrival, he will be ushered to the 4IDACP's Kalayaan Pastoral House for and
shall pass the static display of recovered firearms from the New Peoples Army
(NPA). The President will then personally accord the Military Merit Medals with
Bronze Spearhead Device to the soldiers with notable accomplishments on the
aggressive fight against the local rebels. He will be assisted by 4ID commander
MGen. Benjamin Madrigal, Jr. and Col. Cristobal N. Zaragoza.
Also,
PRRD will administer the donning of rank to Col. Zaragoza as he will be
promoted from colonel to brigadier general. Afterwhich, PRRD will also join the

congratulates Agusanons on its 50th anniv

CITY, Agusan del Norte, June 17 (PIA) – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Saturday
congratulated the provincial government and the Agusanons on their golden
anniversary celebration.
In
his visit during the annual People’s Day celebration at the Caraga State
University campus here, he acknowledged the contribution of governor Ma. Angelica
Rosedell M. Amante-Matba to his administration and the values of the Agusanons
that contributed to the economic growth of the area.
“This
festivity is an affirmation of a collective triumph of unity and cooperation,
its people’s enduring values of persistence and hard work pave the way for
Agusan del Norte’s continuing journey towards greater social economic growth,”
he said.
Duterte
then asked his fellow Mindanaoans for continued vigilance as the government is
implementing stringent measures for the safety of the Filipino people and for
restoration of public order in communities affected by terrorism.
PRRD
also encouraged Agusanons to fight and solve not only terrorism but also the
spread of illegal drugs in the area. He also expressed his full support to the
anti-illegal drug campaign of governor Matba in the province.
The
People’s Day is part of the province’s weeklong celebration of its 50th
foundation anniversary with the theme “Bulawanong Kasaulogan sa Masidlakong
