DOH bares additional services for Marawi City IDPs

ILIGAN CITY, June 10 (PIA) – The Department of
Health (DOH) in region 10 and Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) have
set priorities for the welfare of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) from
Marawi City, Lanao del Sur and ARMM areas while they are in the different
evacuation sites in Iligan City.
In a press briefing held recently at the Regional
Command and Coordination Center, Tubod, this city, Department of Health (DOH)
region 10 assistant regional director Dr. Adriano Suba-an announced that a
child and mother-friendly evacuation centers' atmosphere is being established
by the department.
“Medical needs are provided for the IDPs especially
those who have travelled on-foot from Marawi City to Iligan City's evacuation
centers. We will continue to do more effort for them to be safe and at the same
time away from any common disease that they could get while inside the
evacuation centers,” underlined Suba-an.
Dr. Suba-an also confirmed that there are children
in the evacuation centers that have degree of malnutrition, and the department
is addressing this concern by giving them appropriate interventions like
vitamins and micronutrients while lactating mothers are also provided with
necessary vitamins.
It was also learned that the department has
deployed two teams in Marawi City. They cater patients of all cases, however,
no patients are coming to the one that is positioned in Amai Pakpak Medical
Hospital because of the presence of snipers. But he assured further that
medical assistance will be provided anytime to those who are in need.
Also, Dr. Alinader Minalang, chief of Integrated
Provincial Health Center in Lanao del Sur disclosed that they are also giving
attention to those health workers who were also displaced and have not yet
reported to work until this time. “We are working on the provision of necessary
assistance for the affected health workers in Marawi City,” he said.
Meanwhile, Marissa DM Navalez, nutrition program
coordinator of region 10 bared that the 'No Milk Donation' Policy in the
evacuation centers is strictly implemented. She stressed that the government
promotes breastfreeding especially to IDP-mothers with their babies. Choco
powder drinks are also prohibited while coffee in the evacuation centers are

AgSur invites public to 25th Naliyagan Festival,
50th Foundation Anniv celebrations

PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur, June 10 (PIA) – The
province of Agusan del Sur is celebrating the 25th Naliyagan Festival and 50th
Foundation Anniversary from June 10-17, 2017 with lined-up events prepared by
the organizers for all the Agusanons, as well as tourists from other areas of
the country.
Governor Adolph Edward Plaza is inviting all
Agusanons, Caraganons, and tourists to witness and participate in various
activities that are unique, educational, and entertaining.
“This is a yearly celebration where Agusanons will
enjoy, strengthen camaraderie and appreciate the distinct culture of the
Agusanon tribe,” disclosed Plaza.
On Sunday, June 11, the following activities are
scheduled: Safety Riding and Off Road Flat Tracks Training at Gov. D.O Plza
covered Court Ground; 1st Gov. Eddiebong Plaza 3-Gun Shooting Competition at
Agusan del Sur – Provincial Police Office, Shooting Range; Gov. Eddiebong Plaza
Lawn Tennis Commercial Tournament; Naliyagan Horse Show Competition; Padula sa
Kabataan (Games for the Youths); Pintahusay (on-the-spot painting) at Datu
LIpus Makapandong Cultural Center Ground; Bubuta Tu Manok Tu (4 cock derby) at
the New Bayugan City Cockpit, Curbada Road Esperaza, Bayugan City; Naliyagan
Barn Dance; Naliyagan Hip-hop Dance Competition; concert featuring with Human
Beat Box: Neil Llanes and Gloc 9; and Fireworks.
In time with the Independence Day celebration on
Monday, June 12, the provincial government set a wreath-laying activity, short
program, 6th Eddiebong Plaza Motocross Competition; Gov. Eddibong Plza Lawn
Tennis Commercial Tournamen; Kalayaan Jobs Fair; Padula sa Kabataan; Naiyagan
Mano-A-Mano; Bai Naliyagan 2017 Talent Showdown; concert with the Dawn band;
and Fireworks.
The Day-4, June 13 (Tuesday) of the Naliyagan
Festival is declared as Cultural Day in the province. Among the activities set
for the day include the Tribal parade; Kalayaan Jobs Fair; Tribal wedding;
Launchig of Provincial Mini Museum at the Agusan del Sur Heritage Center;
Naliyagan Mano-A-Mano; Cultural Night; Concert with Bayang Barrios and The
Naliyagan Band, and Franco.
Sikad sa Naliyagan; 3rd BMX Bridge Crossing
Challenge; Agusan Delicacy Showcase; 9th Naliyagan Bauto Race; Naliyagan Bingo
Social; Naliyagan Mano-A-Mano; LGU-Night with artist Imelda Papin; Concert with
Juan Miguel Salvador and the Authority Band; and Naliyagan fireworks display
are among the lined-up activities for Day-5, June 14 (Wednesday).
On Day-6, June 15 (Thursday), several activities
like the USAD Farmers’ Day and Agrilympics; 2nd Naliyagan Skateboarding
Challenge; 2nd Gov. Eddiebong Plaza Fire-Lympics 2017 (Banragay Fire Brigade
Category); Naliyagan Drum and Lyre Competition; Concert with Rocksteddy,
Shehyee, Dello and Sinio; and Fireworks are also organized by the provincial
government.
The Day-7, June 16 (Friday), the following
activities are again open to public: Naliyagan Street Dancing Competition;
Naliyagan Motorcycle Mountain Trail; Naliyagan Street Dancing Competition
(Final Showdown); Bai Naliyagan 2017 Coronation Night; Concert with Mitoy and
the Draybers Band, and Hale; and Naliyagan fireworks display.
Also, Day-8, June 17 (Saturday) is intended for the
50th Founding Anniversary celebration of the province. With this celebration,
government officials, employees and invited stakeholders will be attending the
following activities: Holy Mass at St. Vincent Ferrer Parish Church; State of
the Province Address (SOPA) at the SP Session Hall, Legislative Building;
Foundation Day Anniversary Program at Datu Lipus Makapandong Cultural Center
Stage; Gawad Parangal s mga Agusanon; Binaga Tu Naliyagan; Concert with Bamboo,
6 Cyclemind, and Banda ni Kleggy; and Grand finale of Naliyagan fireworks
display.
With the aforementioned activities in the province,
Gov. Plaza hope for a peaceful and order celebration through the active
cooperation of the constituents and tourists who will be joining in the series
of events for the week.
The provincial government reminded the public who
will be in the different venues of said activities to bring their ID as part of
