Tubajon celebrates 48th founding anniv

SAN JOSE, Dinagat Islands, June 23 (PIA) - The municipality of  Tubajon in Dinagat Islands celebrated its 48th "Araw ng Tubajon" with the weeklong celebration form June 13 to 21, 2017.

This year’s celebration is anchored on the theme, "Tubajon: Sa hugot nga Liderato ug Panaghiusa, Kalambuan sa Turismo, Kultura, ug Kinaiyahan Makab-ot Ta.”

The weeklong celebration highlighted with the inauguration of the newly-constructed Municipal Hall and the conduct of inter-Barangay sports tournament and Tabo sa Lungsod Festival.

During the celebration, provincial vice governor Benglen B. Ecleo turned over development aid worth P15,000 to Barangays Sta. Cruz and Roxas intended for their annual sports activities.

The celebration was graced by Sangguniang Panlalawigan ex-officio PCL president Annabelle Pelismino, board member RC Charlemagne Vargas and board member Antonio Ensoy with the full participation of the Department of Education (DepEd) Dinagat Islands schools division, municipal officials, barangay officials, students and residents of Tubajon town. DAR-AgNor assists ARB orgs to qualify for credit program

BUTUAN CITY, June 23 - Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Agusan del Norte has assisted 11 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) in the province to qualify this year’s credit assistance under the government Agrarian Production Credit Program (APCP).

This was disclosed by DAR Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer (CARPO) Judith M. Domingo during the conduct of a review and assessment workshop with the ARBOs last June 19, 2017 held at Luciana Convention Center here.

In a statement, CARPO Domingo said that the department is assisting the farmers to comply with the necessary documents for the said credit program.

“We are helping the ARBO’s to meet their financing needs for crop production or agri-enterprise or livelihood activities,” CARPO Domingo added.

APCP Coordinator Luningning B. Ycoy said that the workshop also aimed to review the proposals of the ARBOs to qualify for government credit facility.

“The farmers-organizations have expected to receive credit assistance in the third quarter of this year,” Ycoy added.

According to Ycoy, as of December 2016, more than P17 million credit funds were released to 39 ARB Organizations benefitting to more than 2,000 agrarian reform beneficiaries in the province.

ATI-Caraga conducts basic journalism training to AEWs, IOs

BUTUAN CITY, June 23 – The Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) and information officers from the different municipalities in Caraga region participated in the Basic Journalism Training-Workshop on June 20-23, 2017 at San Lorenzo Ruiz Pastoral Center, Barangay Ampayon, this city.

Led by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Caraga, the said training-workshop is aimed to train AEWs and refine their skills in writing agricultural-related stories.

“Learning the basics of journalism is vital especially for us information officers as we wanted to deliver the right information to our target audience – the farmers,” underscored ATI project officer Jason Jampac.

Also, PIA Caraga deputy regional director Fryan Abkilan, one of the resource speakers, challenged the AEWs to continue learning and hone their skills in journalistic writing.

Said training-workshop is anchored on the theme “Penning it the Write Way: Training Course on Basic Journalism for AEWs, FITS Center, and ATI Staff.” (PIA-Caraga)
