DTI conducts business education seminar cum consumer forum in Surigao Norte

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte, Nov. 7 (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Surigao del Norte provincial office conducted a seminar cum consumer forum held recently at the Go Negosyo Center, Capitol Compound, this city.

The activity aims to provide the participants with updated information related to the different business models that encouraged investments from the various sectors of the society as well as the rights of the consumers to receive exact change from their money.

It also served as the culminating event of the month-long Consumer Welfare Month celebration.

Topics discussed during the said activity include unlawful pyramiding, unlawful investments schemes, know your money, and no short change act.

Invited resource persons were from the Securities and Exchange Commission - Cagayan de Oro Extension Office and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas - Butuan Extension Office together with the DTI Caraga in-house lawyer.

Dinagat children, youth gather for DRRM-CCA camp

SAN JOSE, Dinagat Islands, Nov. 7 (PIA) - The Provincial Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) Dinagat Islands in partnership with DepEd-Dinagat Islands and Save the Children Philippines conducted recently a two-day Children and Youth DRRM-Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) Camp held at the Provincial Guest Center, Capitol Compound, San Jose, this province.

The activity is anchored on the theme, “Listong Kabataan Dinagatnon: Tulay sa Ligtas at maunlad na komunidad."

The said event aims to help the children of the province to become “Listo” (ready) especially in times of emergency and disaster.

Among the topics discussed during the activity were overview of Republic Act (RA) 10121 or the Philippine DRRM Act of 2010 and RA 10821 or the Children’s Emergency Relief and Protection Act, the characteristics of a child, protecting the rights of child, the child’s rights in DRR-CCA programming, salient features of school-based DRRM, Operation Listo Program cum Listong Pamilyang Pilipino, leadership in emergencies, orientation on local council for the Protection of Children, simultaneous organization of Listong Kabataang Dinagatnon and, organization of DRRM-CCA Teacher Practitioners.
