Govt agencies ready for 2015 Natl Crime Prevention

BUTUAN CITY, Aug. 28 (PIA) – In line with this
year’s 21st National Crime Prevention Week (NCPW) celebration, the government
agencies here led by the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Caraga has set
lined-up activities for the said event.
On the recently held technical working group
meeting, the member-agencies agreed to conduct the following activities as the
NCPW celebration will kick-off on September 1, 2015 – Hataw exercise at 6:30
a.m. to be held at Libertad Sports Complex; Motorcade at 8:00 a.m. from the
sports complex going to Guingona Park, where the short program will follow. A
press conference will also be held right after the short program at the Mazaua
Island Resort, this city.
Different government agencies will also be
participating on a symposium to be conducted on September 2 at the Agusan
National High School (ANHS) and La Trinidad Integrated Secondary School in
Barangay Bonbon, Butuan City.
Invited speakers are coming from the Philippine
Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Commission on Human Rights (CHR), Department of
Education (DepEd), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection
(BFP), and Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Caraga.
Also, on September 3, the same group will be
holding same symposium at Saint Joseph Institute of Technology (SJIT) and
Butuan City School of Arts and Trade (BCSAT).
Meanwhile, on September 4, stakeholders will be
culminating said celebration with a program and the conduct of Regional
Secondary School Speech Competition at the Robinsons Place here. 1st District
Agusan del Norte (Las Nieves and Butuan City) Representative Lawrence Lemuel
Fortun is the guest of honor and speaker during the culmination activity.
The first week of September of every year has been
declared as National Crime Prevention Week pursuant to Proclamation No. 461
dated August 31, 1994 which was issued by then Pres. Fidel V. Ramos.
This year's NCPW is anchored on the theme

AgSur PNP tops performance rating regionwide
PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur, Aug. 28 (PIA) - The
Agusan del Sur Provincial Police office ranks first in the operational
accomplishment against its war on illegal drugs regionwide for the period from
January to July 31, 2015.
According to the report rendered by Agusan del Sur
Police provincial director P/SSupt. Joseph Plaza, Agusan del Sur PNP has
conducted 131 operations since January until July 31 this year with 223 persons
arrested on shabu totaling to 1,139 grams and marijuana with 312 grams, with a
total value of P13,464,010.58.
Rank second is Surigao del Norte with 71
operations arresting 97 persons in position of 879.46 grams of shabu and 9.71
grams of marijuana with a total value of P10,378,137,02, followed by Surigao
del Sur PPO with 28 operations and arrested 58 persons with 434.5 grams of
shabu and 34.1 grams of Marijuana with a total value of P5,129,036.74.
Butuan City Police Office have also conducted 45
operations arresting 69 persons with 333.37 grams of shabu and 25 grams of
marijuana with a total value of P3,935,134.22 while Agusan del Norte PPO who
ranks fifth has conducted 70 operations with 94 persons arrested with 254 grams
of shabu with zero marijuana with a value of P3,006,321.40. Dinagat Island PPO
has conducted 10 operations with 12 persons arrested having 13.73 grams of
shabu and 14.3 grams of marijuana with a total value of P162,835.62.
“So far, if we look at the municipal police
station category, ranking first is the municipality of San Francisco on illegal
drugs, municipality of Loreto on illegal position of firearms and the
municipality of Sibagat on illegal logging registered as top performers. On
illegal gambling, the municipality of Dapa got the the recognition while the
municipality of Cortez grab the honor of having 100 percent index crime
solution efficiency,” P/SSupt. Plaza said.
Vice Gov. Santiago Cane Jr. who presided the PPOC
meeting extends his commendation on the PNP report saying “This is the reason
why Gov. Plaza has agreed to declare with then Col. Gregory Cayetano,
401st Brigade Commander, that Agusan del

SEC warns anew on online investment scam
SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte, Aug. 28 (PIA) –
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on its advisory dated August 7,
2015 issued warning that the illegal online taking activities of EMGOLDEX
PHILIPPINES are now using the name GLOBAL INTERGOLD.
Per verification, GLOBAL INTERGOLD is not a
registered corporation or partnership. Likewise GLOBAL INTERGOLD is not
authorized to offer for sale, sell and solicit investments from the public
since no selling agents of GLOBAL INTERGOLD, as of now, have secured license
form SEC to act as certified investment solicitor, investment adviser, broker
or dealer in securities, or salesperson or dealer in securities.
The public is advised by the SEC to exercise
self-restraint from investing their money into such high yield – high risk
investment scheme and to take the necessary precautions in dealing with the
above-named entity.
The public is further advised that those who
participate including those who offer investment either personal or thru social
media (i.e. Facebook, instagram, etc.) in the investment taking of GLOBAL
INTERGOLD are at risk of being prosecuted for criminal violation of the
Securities Regulation Code.
Considering the recent proliferation of illegal
investment solicitation form individuals and entities, the public are warned to
take extra caution in making investment decisions that will involve
considerable sum of money.
Especially when the offer is so attractive, that
at times the yield is very high compared to the prevailing rate of return of
viable business ventures.

DAR chief hands titles, support services to SurSur
farmers

BUTUAN CITY, Aug. 28 (PIA) - Agrarian Reform
Secretary Virgilio de los Reyes led the distribution of certificate of land
ownership award (CLOA) to 24 new landowners during the Peace Caravan held last
August 25, 2015 in Lianga, Surigao del Sur.
The area covers 46.7 hectares located in Brgy.
Bucawe, Lianga, Surigao del Sur.
Delos Reyes also handed turn-over documents of the
completed rehabilitation project of three farm to market roads amounting to
P3.6 to the barangay captains of Barangays Anibongan, Manyayay and San Isidro.
The road project are: (1) NRJ Anibongan to Sitio Tapo, (2) NRJ Bocgayan –
Pamidpiran and (3) Crossing San Isidro to Huangan.
Delos Reyes said that these efforts are towards bringing
the agrarian reform’s services to the communities.
DAR also handed P1.72 million common service
farming facilities in a separate caravan in Marihatag, Surigao del Sur last
August 24, 2015. These facilities include three units of rice thresher, three
units floating tilling and a 4WD 35HP Tractor with implements and trailer which
was received by the Bayan Free Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative. The
facilities are expected to benefit 74 agrarian reform beneficiaries and 57
other farmers in the area.
The Peace Caravan is a joint effort of the Local
Government of Surigao del Sur headed by the Gov. Johnny Pimentel and the Office
of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) participated by
various national and local government agencies, non-government organizations
