AgNor PDRRMC holds DRR quiz bowl, short film
making contests

BUTUAN CITY, Aug. 14 (PIA) – In line with the
celebration of the National Disaster Consciousness Month (NDCM) in the month of
July, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) of
the Province of Agusan del Norte in partnership with the Department of
Education (DepEd) Agusan del Norte facilitated the conduct of the 1st DRR Quiz
Bowl and DRR Short Film Making Contests.
According to PDRRMO officer Erma Suyo, the
activity aims to enhance the involvement of the youth through the schools of
both public and private sectors in DRR initiatives.
Suyo also said that the conduct of the contests
would also help increase the awareness of the youth on disaster preparedness,
prevention and management at all levels.
A total of 13 secondary schools in the province of
Agusan del Norte participated in the DRR Short Film Making contest while 29
fourth year high school students from the public and private schools of the
divisions of Agusan del Norte and Cabadbaran City joined the DRR Quiz Bowl.
For the Short Film Making Contest, the first place
was awarded to Buenavista National High School with P20,000 cash prize; second
place went to Magallanes National High School with P15,000; and third place was
awarded to Marcos Calo National High School with P10,000. The winners also
received a plaque.
Meanwhile, the Nasipit National Vocational High
School bagged the top prize for the DRR Quiz Bowl; second prize went to Carmen
National High School; and third prize was awarded to Buenavista National High
School. They all received certificates and cash prizes of P7,000, 5,000, P3,000
respectively. Coaches of the participating schools also received certificates

DAR trains SurSur farmers on coop governance,
financial management

SURIGAO DEL SUR, Aug. 14 (PIA) - The Department of
Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently trained some 57 farmers from the ten assisted
cooperatives in the province of Surigao del Sur to capacitate them with basic
knowledge, skills and the right attitude in managing the financial affairs of
the organizations.
They were trained on Cooperative Governance and
Financial Management held on August 4 - 7, 2015
at Kansilad Resort in Lianga town, this province.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer
Benjamin M. Mataksil, in his message, challenged the members and officers to
apply what they have learned in the training course and become competent in
managing their respective business operations.
Among the agrarian reform beneficiaries
organizations (ARBOs) participated in the training were: (1) Farmers Marketing
Coop of Mabahin (FAMACOMA); (2) San Roque Farmers Producers Coop; (3) Magroyong
Farmers Multi-purpose Coop (MAFAMUPCO); (4) Kinabigtasan Farmers Marketing Coop
(KFMC); (5) Ban-as Planters Producers Group (BAPPCO); (6) Baucawe ARB Coop
(BARBCO); (7) Tagbina RIC Coop (TAGRICCO); (8) Dugmanon HInatuan Farmers MPC;
(9) Pamanlinan Fishermen Coop (PAFICO); and(10) San Jose Community ARB Coop

PhilHealth to conduct orientation on National
Health Insurance Act of 2013 in Caraga

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, Aug. 14 (PIA) – An
orientation on the National Health Insurance Act of 2013 is set to be conducted
on August 18, 2015 by the PhilHealth’s Social Health Insurance Academy (SHIA)
at 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Almond Hotel Inland Resort in Butuan City.
Johnny Sychua, PhilHealth Caraga Regional Office
vice-president, said in his letter dated August 3, 2015 to invitees that the
undertaking, in coordination with their office, is intended for “local media,
information officers of National Government Agencies, Employers, Academe and
Civic Organizations,” citing “Social Health Insurance Education Series
(SHInES)” as part of SHIA’s purpose.
The Caraga PhilHealth chief also pointed out that
the holding of such event “aims to orient the target participants on the
important roles they play in promoting the PhilHealth program.”
“Comprehensive information and updates on 'The
National Health Insurance Act of 2013; New and Enhanced PhilHealth Benefits;
Membership Programs;' and 'The Role of Media and Information Officers in
Advocating the National Health Insurance Program' are going to be provided by
PhilHealth officers from the Head Office and PRO Caraga,” Sychua stressed.
