By Greg Tataro Jr.

TANDAG CITY, June 23 (PIA) – The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) District Jail here headed by warden J/Insp. Richard Gamale bared recently its accomplishment based on four major areas of rehabilitation program since assuming post on May 11.

Citing livelihood projects, educational and vocational training, recreation and sports, and religious/spiritual activities, warden Gamale pointed out that such rehab program is continuously being carried out in order “to eliminate the offenders’ pattern of criminal behavior and to reform them to become law-abiding and productive citizens.”

On account of “inherent function of informing the public of jail operations and other matters concerning the corrections pillar of the Philippines,” the warden said “BJMP aims to keep the public abreast of information regarding jail management and penology.”

Meanwhile, he said that there are 74 inmates under their custody after releasing seven of them with “zero incident of jailbreak.”

This month, BJMP is celebrating “Community Relations Service (CRS) with the theme ‘Maayos na Pamamahala ng Piitan, Kaagapay ng Bayan sa pagtataguyod at Pagtahak sa Tuwid na Daan,’" Gamale announced.

CRS promotes community development in collaboration with our service providers, stakeholders, and civil society group, he added. (NGBT/Radyo ng Bayan-Tandag/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
