Energy drives DENR sportsfest 2015, motivates
champions

BUTUAN CITY, June 25 (PIA) - The employees of the Department of
Environment and Natural Reosurces (DENR) Caraga region held the three-day DENR
Sportfest 2015 on June 22 to 24, 2015 at the Agusan del Norte provincial
covered court, highlighting the celebration of the environment month.
With the energetic participation of employees from
the Environmental Management Bureau, Mines and Geosciences Bureau, DENR
regional office, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Offices (PENROs)
and Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (CENROs). The
sportsfest opened with the cheer dance competition. Major sports events are
basketball, volleyball, dart, bowling, lawn tennis, table tennis and badminton.
The volleyball, table tennis and dart sports activities are held at the Agusan
del Norte provincial covered court. The basketball and lawn tennis events were
held at the Luz Village covered court while the bowling and badminton events at
Timberlane and Timberline, this city.
During the opening program, DENR Caraga regional
director Nonito M. Tamayo encouraged the participants to enjoy the sports.
“Sport makes a person’s body and mind healthy and
strong,” RD Tamayo said.
“This sportsfest is timely since this is the time
when wewill be recharged with additional energy and flex our muscles for works
ahead to finish the remaining targets this year,” he added.
He said everyone who indulges in sports is already
a winner. “Everyone must therefore encourage sports as medium for environmental
advocacy. We used these sports as environmental advocacies to tell the people
that healthy mind and sound body are important to become effective and
champions in accomplishing our jobs in environmental management,” he said.
Meanwhile, Agusan del Norte provincial governor
Ma. Angelica Rosedell Amante-Matba, the event's guest speaker, has affirmed her
strong support to the DENR-Caraga in the implementation of environmental
programs. “I commend DENR for holding this sports activity. This shows unity
and camaraderie are strong in DENR,” Governor Matba said.
This years’ sportsfest is hosted by PENRO Agusan
del Norte. The sportsfest 2015 is chaired by Legal Chief Atty. Claudio A.

DTI to hold diskwento caravan in Surigao Norte
town

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte, June 25 (PIA) -
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will spearhead the Diskwento Caravan
on June 29-30, 2015 at the Claver Commercial District, municipality of Claver,
this province.
This is the first diskwento caravan to be
conducted this year to help poor residents, farmers and fisherfolk families in
the barangays and its neighboring rural communities.
During the two-day activity, basic necessities and
prime commodities will be sold at discounted prices to help the consuming
public reduce their family expenses.
Among the products that will be sold in the
caravan are food products such as noodles, sardines, beef loaf, corned beef,
soy sauce, milk, cheese, cooking oil, bread and biscuits, sugar and coffee.
Also available are varieties of laundry soaps,
fabric conditioner, shampoo, diapers and other grocery items of famous brands.
The following local and regional distributors and
dealers of manufactured goods will also be participating in the caravan with
their items displayed and sold to the buying public at discounted prices: Oro
Grande Distributors, Inc., Extract Sales, Inc., Sun Pride Foods, Inc., Marjeck,
D’Best Value, Golden Century Marketing, Philippines Spring Water Resources,
Inc. and Field Activation Merchandising.
Residents in the barangays of Claver and
neighboring municipalities of Gigaquit and Bacuag are encouraged to avail of
these opportunities for them to make the best value of their money and save in
their basic goods purchases.
