SurSur Landbank assures efficient service during holiday season

By Greg Tataro Jr.

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, Dec. 22 (PIA) – Landbank of the Philippines (LBP) Tandag City Branch in Surigao del Sur has assured clients of efficient banking service for the holiday season.

Herbert Luna, local branch manager here, stressed that their banking service especially through ATM will remain as usual despite the “long break” due to declared non-working holidays.

However, he said that they are yet awaiting receipt of the official communication since there are in-house bank transactions that are normally observed during the entire duration of the holiday break.

Meanwhile, he also remarked that it has been quite a while since they spotted a case of counterfeit money. (NGBT/Radyo ng Bayan/PIA-Surigao del Sur)

DTI vows to check firecrackers, fireworks in SurSur

By Greg Tataro Jr.

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, Dec. 22 (PIA) – Once trade of firecrackers and similar products starts in Surigao del Sur, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) headed by acting provincial director Romel Oribe vows to come in to make sure nothing illegal is going to take place.

Manny Disca, Consumer Welfare Division chief stressed they are going to work in tandem with the local Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to get the job done through random check.

Both BFP acting provincial fire marshall Insp. Rowella Dinolan and PNP acting provincial director Senior Supt. Narciso Verdadero here have already signified intention to join the DTI for the annual drive against possible violators.

Last week, in Tandag City, Disca admitted they have yet to know whether the local government unit (LGU) has allowed the sale of such products.

However, booths intended solely for the sale of firecrackers and fireworks have already been built over the weekend along the national highway near the National Food Authority (NFA) office—the same isolated area where said products had been sold last year. (NGBT/Radyo ng Bayan/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
