PSA-Caraga to hold Regl Data Dissemination Forum
on 2013 NDHS in Butuan

BUTUAN CITY, Oct. 22 (PIA) – The Philippine
Statistics Authority (PSA) Caraga will be holding the Regional Data
Dissemination Forum on 2013 National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) on
October 29, 2014 at Luciana Convention Center, this city.
“The objective of this forum is to raise the
awareness of the stakeholders and data users on the importance of the survey
data especially in the formulation of plans, policies and programs,” disclosed
PSA-Caraga interim regional director Rosalinda Celeste-Apura.
Apura added that said forum will be participated
by the government agencies, civil societies/non-government organizations,
women’s group, academe, media and the local government units.
The 2013 NDHS covered topics on fertility,
maternal and child health, marriage and sexual behavior, health facility

SurSur TESDA leads 2014 accomplishment in Caraga

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, Oct. 22 (PIA) – The
Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Surigao del Sur
headed by provincial director Rey Cueva has continued to keep the lead in their
2014 latest accomplishment in Caraga region.
Based on the “Key Result Areas (KRAs),” that goes
with the acronym PEGACE (Profiling, Enrolled, Graduates, Assessment, Certification,
and Employment) dated October 15, 2014, TESDA here remains at the forefront of
almost all KRAs except for Enrolled and Graduates in Massive Training,
according to Nancy De Guzman, Administrative Officer V of said office.
Among the five TESDA provincial offices in Caraga
region (Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur,
and Dinagat Islands), the TESDA office here ranked first in Profiling—115
percent or equivalent to 2,030 out of the 1,762 target; Assessment—48 percent or
equivalent to 5,028 out of the 10,538 target; Certification—49 percent or
equivalent to 4,171 out of the 8,557 target; and Employment—40 percent or
equivalent to 3,073 out of the 7,733 target, she pointed out.
However, under Massive Training, which beneficiaries
are classified into two—Enrolled and Graduates, only 64 percent or equivalent
to 8,580 out of the 13,415 target and 66 percent or equivalent to 8,064 out of
the 12,192 target have been attained, respectively, De Guzman admitted.
Meanwhile, quoting TESDA’s mandate, Cueva stressed
that their agency, which seeks to “provide direction, policies, programs and
standards towards quality technical education and skills development for the

120 civilians graduated from CAFGU training

STA. CRUZ, Placer, Surigao del Norte, Oct. 22
(PIA) - Some 120 civilian volunteers had successfully graduated after 45 days
of training in CAFGU (Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit) Active Auxiliary
(CAA) Basic Citizen Military Training (BCMT) conducted by the 3rd Special
Forces Battalion, Special Forces Regiment (Airborne) Special Operation Command,
Philippine Army at Kalayaan Hall, Headquarters 402nd Brigade, Brgy Bancasi,
Butuan City on October 15.
The training opened on September 1, 2014 composed
of civilian volunteers coming from different barangays of Surigao del Norte.
The CAFGU recruitment was a product of the continuing
Community Organizing for Peace and Development program of 30th Infantry
Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, through the support of the
local government units, which aims to instill to the civilian volunteers the
importance of strengthening the Territorial Defense System in their
communities. The graduates will be deployed in their respective communities to
form part of security elements of the government currently supporting the
implementation of the government's delivery of basic services, socio-economic
projects and other developmental programs.
Surely, the collaborative efforts in the success
of the recruitment and training will contribute much for the betterment of the
lives of the Surigaonons as peace and development in the area are continuously

Tagalog News: Palasyo nagtatrabaho kasama ang
kongreso para maseguro ang matatag na suplay ng kuryente sa susunod na taon
AGUSAN DEL SUR, Okt. 22 (PIA) - Sinabi ng
Malakanyang na patuloy itong magtatrabaho kasama ang Kongreso para makapag
palabas ng katanggap-tanggap na solusyon sa nakabinbing kakulangan sa kuryente
sa panahon ng tagtuyot sa susunod na taon.
“Gusto ng pamahalaan na maseguro ang sapat na
suplay at tamang presyo ng kuryente para sa mga mamamayan sa panahon ng
tagtuyot sa taong 2015,” sabi ni Presidential Communications Operations Office
Secretary Herminio Coloma, Jr. sa isang panayam sa media sa Palasyo noong
Martes.
“Patuloy kaming magtatrabaho kasama ang Kongreso
para makapagbigay ng tamang kasagutan at isang kasiyasiyang solusyon: matatag
at mapagkatiwalaang suplay at presyo na makatuwiran at hindi sobra o abusado,”
dagdag pa niya.
Ayon kay Secretary Coloma ang Department of Energy
(DOE) ay nakapagsabi kahit wala pang aktuwal na kakulangan sa kuryente sa
tagtuyot ng taong 2015, ang reserba ay manipis pa rin.
Kung sakaling magkaroon ng hindi inaasahang
pagkasira o hindi nakatakdang pagsaayos ng mga planta ng kuryente, ang manipis
na reserba ay malulusaw at ang magiging resulta ay painog na mga brownout,
paliwanag niya.
Ang Kongreso ay kasalukuyang pinag-uusapan ang
tinatangkang pinagsamang congressional resolution na magbigay sa Pangulo ng
emerhensiyang kapangyarihan para harapin ang inaasahang kakulangan sa susunod

AGUSAN DEL SUR, Okt. 22 (PIA) - Sinabi ni
Pangulong Benigno S. Aquino III noong Lunes na magiging mahigpit ang pamahalaan
sa pagtugis sa grupong Abu Sayyaf (ASG) dahil sa pagsala ng relasyon ng bansa
sa kanyang mga kalapit bansa.
"Wala nang safe area (mula sa Abu Sayyaf);
talagang kailangan walang tigil ang paghahabol sa kanila. At ‘yan ang nagaganap
ngayon," sabi ng Pangulo sa pakipanayam sa media sa Palo, Leyte kung saan
ipinagdiwang niya ang ika 70 anibersaryo ng pagdaung sa lalawigan ng Allied
forces na pinanguluhan ni Gen. Douglas MacArthur noong ikalawang digmaan sa
mundo.
"Masyadong matagal nang problema itong Abu
Sayyaf na ito… Naapektohan nito ang ating relasyon sa iba’t ibang kalapit
bansa, na wala silang humpay at palagay ko naman dapat rin tapatan ng estado na
walang humpay ang pagtugis sa kanila," sabi niya.

Hindi ko pinahintulutan ang kahit anuman na nagmula sa Tanggapan ng
Pangulo."
"Ang pukos ko doon ay yung Abu Sayyaf at
hindi yung ransom. ‘Yon ang tinatrabaho ko kasama ang (Armed Forces) Chief of Staff, ang Hepe ng
Philippine National Police (PNP) ang SND (Secretary of National Defense), and
the SILG (Secretary of Interior and Local Government)," dagdag pa niya.

ensure a stable supply and reasonably priced electricity for our people during
the summer months of 2015)," kini ang gibutyag ni Presidential
Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma, Jr. sa usa ka press
briefing sa Palasyo kagahapon.
"Kita ang magpadayon sa pagtrabaho uban sa
Kongreso sa paghatag og usa ka tukma nga tubag ug makatagbaw nga solusyon:
malungtaron ug kasaligan nga suplay sa makatarunganon nga taripa ug dili sobra
o maabusohon (We will continue working with Congress in providing an
appropriate response and a satisfactory solution: stable and reliable supply at
