PIA Team Mindanao to launch ‘tent’ drive for typhoon victims

BUTUAN CITY, Dec. 5 (PIA) – The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Team Mindanao will launch a tent drive dubbed “A Tent for a Family” for the typhoon victims in the Eastern Visayas.

Mindanao cluster Team Leader and Caraga regional director Abner Caga said that food, water, medicine and the health of people affected by the typhoon remain as major priorities, “but based in our observation when we were there, it is also important to focus on providing them with temporary shelter.”

“This is, I believe, one the most appropriate interventions for now since we cannot provide them with hardware materials, they need at least a tent just to protect them from the cold at night,” Caga added.

Though it is only temporary, Caga explained that it is also a very important step to help them begin to rebuild their lives.

Tent donation may be dropped off at PIA Caraga Regional Office at J. Rosales Avenue, Butuan City or at any PIA regional offices in Mindanao or they may call (085) 341-5285 for more details. (FEA/PIA-Caraga)
