‘Bahandi Caraga’ to take center stage at Kabuhayan 2013

By Eldie N. David

BUTUAN CITY, Oct. 29 (PIA) - Local producers and exhibitors from Caraga Region will take part in the prestigious Kabuhayan 2013 Trade Fair and Exhibit annually organized by the Congressional Spouses Foundation, Inc. (CSFI) to be staged on November 7-10, 2013 at the Mega Trade Hall 2 of SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.

Caraga region’s participation for the first time to this event is realized through the effort and initiative of Ms. Marie Therese F. Fortun, the CSFI Caraga Regional Chairperson and better half of Agusan del Norte First District Representative Lawrence “Law” Fortun.

The region will carry a branding ‘Bahandi Caraga’ which will display the richness of the region’s arts and crafts as well as food products which are considered a comparative advantage of Caraga. “Although this is the first time that Caraga as a region will participate in this trade fair, we surely hope that this will not be the last,” according to Ms. Fortun. “After this event we are looking at the possibility of again sending our local producers to an international trade fair in the United States early part of next year. In this manner, we will be able to help our local producers find their niche in the international market,” Fortun added.

Fortun’s active involvement in the CSFI is her way of helping her husband in delivering genuine services to their constituents and likewise promoting Butuan City and the region as a whole. Several other projects are already lined-up by Fortun which she wishes to implement in the next few months. Among the projects line-up is the “Lakbay Aral” of CSFI members in Caraga Region with Butuan City as the entry point that will take place early part of next year.

The region’s participation to this annual fair was also made possible through the assistance of Butuan City Mayor Ferdinand M. Amante, Jr., Agusan del Norte Provincial Governor Angelica Rosedell M. Amante-Matba, Surigao del Sur Provincial Governor Johnny T. Pimentel, the Department of Trade and Industry Caraga Regional Office and some benevolent private benefactors.
