Infotech students, entrepreneurs, experts to
join ICT roadshow

BUTUAN CITY, Sept. 17 (PIA) - More than 300
participants coming from different secondary schools, colleges, universities,
government agencies and business sectors in Caraga region will be joining the
Information Technology – Business Process management (IT-BPM) and ITPreneurship
Roadshow in the Next Wave Cities (NWCs) congress to be held at Almont Inland
Resort on September 19-20, this city.
This year's event is anchored on the theme
"Bringing Filipino Talents into New Heights."
Caraga Information Communication Technology
(ICT) Council President Cherry May Busa, in an interview over 107.8 Power FM,
said they are also expecting at least 15 officials from the Department of
Science and Technology - Information and Communications Technology Office (DOST-ICTO)
to grace the event.
"We are expecting 15 dignitaries from
DOST-ICTO led by Monchito B. Ibrahim, IT-BPM, and other ICT partners during the
two-day roadshow," Busa said.
Busa added that the roadshow is open to all
interested ICT enthusiasts, students, and professionals coming from government,
private and other interested institutions. The activities will be facilitated
by ICT experts from DOST-ICTO and different IT-BPM partner organizations.
“Various IT-BPM organizations such as the
Animation Council of the Philippines (ACPI), Contact Center Association of the
Philippines (CCAP), Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP),
Philippine Industry Software of the Philippines (PSIA), and the Healthcare
Information Management Outsourcing Association of the Philippines (HIMOAP),
will be addressing this regional gathering of students, parents, teachers,
professional, business and local leaders,” Busa added.
The first day of the activity will be devoted
for the IT-BMP career talks while the second day will focus on ITpreneurship
and eCommerce session for small and medium enterprises. A "Kapihan"
will also be conducted on the second day to be facilitated by the Philippine
Information Agency - Caraga.
"The Kapihan seeks to gather local
stakeholders with the national IT-BPM industry executives. The primary goal is
to discuss opportunities and initiatives for development of the local ICT
industry in the area," Busa said.
Busa bared that the roadshow will be hosted by
the Caraga ICT Council in cooperation with the Butuan City government,
DOST-ICTO and other IT-BPM organizations which generally aims to provide a
venue for the government, the industry players and stakeholders to present and
discuss the prospect of the IT-BMP sector as one of the best choices for
entrepreneurship, career development and advancement among the workforce and to
formally declare Butuan as the next wave ICT cities.
Registration for the high school student is P350
(early registration), P500 (on-site registration) for first day only; for
college student, registration fee is P700 (early registration), P1,000 (on-site
registration); and for professional/other group is P1,500 (early registration),

It's all set for Peace Education Contest in
Tandag City

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, Sept. 17 (PIA) -
The Tandag City Division is ready for the 2013 Peace Education Contest
scheduled on Wednesday, September 18 held at the Jacinto P. Elpa National High
School (JPENHS), this city.
Tandag City Division Peace Coordinator designate
Freddie Maglasang said that there are six secondary schools who will be joining
the contest under the newly created Tandag City Division of the Department of
Education.
Maglasang said proclaimed winners are set to
represent the city division to fight for Regional level tentatively set on
September 30 to be held in Agusan National High School, Butuan City.
Maglasang further said, participating schools
under the City Division will have a representative for the following contests:
Editorial Writing, Essay Writing, Short Story Writing, on the spot poster
making and on the spot editorial cartooning.
The 2013 Peace Education Contest for Regional
level is spearheaded by the Philippine Society of Young Good Citizens (PSYGC)
and Caraga Region Institute of Peace (CRIP) in coordination with the Phil.
National Police (PNP), Commission on Human Rights (CHR) and Philippine Information
