(PAGASA 24-HOUR PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST as of Wednesday, 09 July 2025) The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continues to affect Mindanao. FORECAST: The Zamboanga Peninsula will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon. These conditions may lead to possible flash floods or landslides, especially during moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall. The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also influenced by the Southwest Monsoon. Winds will be light to moderate from the southwest, with slight to moderate seas (wave height between 0.6 to 2.1 meters).

A second straight win for SNNHS in Bonok-bonok Maradjao Karadjao Festival

Defending champion Surigao del Norte National High School (SNNHS) once again proved its supremacy as they shown their artistic moves and colorful rendition of the 22nd Bonok-bonok Festival as they won for two straight years in a breath-taking performance held at Surigao del Norte Provincial Sports Center recently in time with Surigao City’s fiesta celebration in honor of Patron Saint – San Nicolas de Tolentino.

Aside from winning the title and receiving the cash prize of P100,000, the contingent also won the Best in Street dancing and Best in Choreography awards, receiving P20,000 each.

Second Prize winner is the contingent from the Municipality of Del Carmen, Surigao del Norte. They received P75,000. Meanwhile, the Cagasan Memorial Elem. School in Brgy. Cagniog, Surigao City grabbed the third place position winning P50,000. They also won P20,000 for the contingent with the Best in Musicality.

Bonok-bonok is the Surigaonon’s way of thanksgiving for the bountiful blessings. This event is marked by mardi gras-like celebrations. (PIA-Caraga)
