More than 6,000 pass career service exams

A total of 4,436 or 8.99% out of 49,340 examinees passed the Career Service Professional Examination, while 1,616 representing 13.80% of the 11,714 examinees passed the Career Service Sub-professional examination, both administered nationwide by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) last July 27, 2008.

The CSC Examination, Recruitment and Placement Office (ERPO) reported that the National Capital Region (NCR) got the highest passing rate in terms of regional performance both for Professional level at 15.08% or 1,430 out of 9,481 examinees, and Sub-Professional level at 16.97% or 469 out of 2,763 examinees. Previously, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) grabbed the highest passing rate for both examinations held in March this year.

Other regions of the country with notable passing rate include: for the Professional level – CAR (12.89%), Davao Peninsula (10.08%), Central Visayas (9.75%), Southern Tagalog (9.72%), Western Visayas (9.11%), Central Luzon (8.68%), and Northern Mindanao (8.37%); and for the Sub-Professional level – Ilocos region (16.67%), CAR (16.50%), Bicol region (15.21%), Central Visayas (14.23%), Central Luzon (13.90%), Northern Mindanao (13.65%), and Southern Tagalog (13.40%).

Jennifer Anne S. Constantino from NCR topped the Professional level with a rating of 88.49, while Christian Lloyd V. Cunanan also from NCR topped the Sub-professional level with 92.31 rating.

The complete list of successful examinees of the July 27, 2008 Career Service Professional and Sub-Professional examinations may be accessed at the CSC website, www.csc.gov.ph.

Those who passed the examinations are advised to coordinate with the CSC Regional Office concerned on the requirements and procedure to claim their Certificate of Eligibility (COE). Meanwhile, those who failed may secure a copy of their Report of Rating through the CSC website.

Meanwhile, research/report writing emerged as the top choice of work of the new Professional eligibles, out of whom 2,158 or 48.65% are unemployed. Other work preference of the new Professional eligibles include human resource development, project planning/management, management and audit analysis, accounting, and computer operations.

The Sub-professional eligibles, who have higher rate of unemployment at 58.66%, prefer such types of work as data/document control, typing, encoding, computer operation, printing, general clerical, property custodial, and computer hardware services.

As in the previous examination result, female passers at 3,868 covering both examination levels outnumbered by 77.92% the male passers, who only registered at 2,174. Data also showed that the passers were relatively young, with those in the age bracket 18-24 years old numbering 4,187, followed by those in the 25-31 age bracket at 1,386. Stabbing incident involving PNP Personnel

One SPO3 Valentin Erlano Escartin, 53 years old, married, Chief investigator of Hinatuan Municipal Police Station and SPO1 Roger Bastan Basal, 45 years old, married and assigned at 141st RMG Company, Sitio Cutlog, Barobo, Surigao del Sur were stabbed on Saturday (November 15) at 6:30 in the morning at the mess Hall of said Police Station by the suspect identified as one Jimmy Garcia, of legal age, married and a detainee of Hintatuan Municipal Police Station for murder. As a result, SPO3 Escartin was pronounced dead on arrival (DOA) at Hinatuan District Hospital while SPO1 Basal was wounded and confined at said Hospital.

Investigation conducted by COP of Hinatuan Municipal Police Station disclosed that the detainee (Jimmy Garcia) while pretending to go to the Comfort Room for personal necessity and escorted by Jailer SPO1 Henry Roque Colantro, incidentally passed the kitchen and while along the way, said suspect took a pointed bolo and stabbed SPO3 Valentin Escartin which sustained stabbed wounds in the right portion of his breast and three stabbed wounds in the different parts of his body resulting to his death.

SPO1 Roger Basal who tried to pacify the incident but was also hacked in the head. SPO1 Pedrito Ronquillo also responded but was assaulted by the suspect (Jimmy Garcia) prompting the law enforcer to shot using his issued cal .45 pistol. The suspect (Jimmy Garcia) was declared DOA by the attending physician of Hinatuan District Hospital.

Motive of the detainee/suspect is to escape from Hinatuan Detention Cell. The cadaver of the suspect now lies at said Hospital pending retrieval from his immediate family members/relatives. Progress report to follow.



Arrest of wanted persons

On Saturday (November 15) at 4:30 in the morning in Barangay 5, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, PNP elements of Nasipit Municipal Police Station led by PINSP Dionesio P Pingos together with Barangay Captain and Barangay Kagawad Cristito Perida of said barangay arrested the suspect identified as Kert Omboy, 18 years old and resident of said place. Suspect was arrested by virtue of warrant of arrest (WOA) issued by Hon Judge Carlos Cambray of MTC Nasipit for the crime of Robbery with force upon things, docketed under CC number 8452 dated 22 June 2007. Arrested person is now detained at Nasipit Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.

On Saturday (November 15) at 9:30 in the morning in Purok 5, Poblacion Barobo, Surigao del Sur, PNP elements of Barobo Municipal Police Station led by PINSP Wilfredo A Templanza with SPO2 Jemar Credo arrested the suspect identified as Michael Alba, 27 years old, single, jobless and resident of said place. Suspect was arrested by virtue of WOA issued by Hon Judge Vicente M Luna Jr of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 40, Tandag City dated September 17, 2008, docketed under CC number 5321 for robbery (with the use of force upon things) with recommended bailbond amounting to Php 48,000.00. Arrested person is now under the custody of Barobo Police Station for proper disposition.

On Saturday (November 15) at 2:00 in the afternoon, elements of 143rd RMG Company led by PINSP Darwin B Bura arrested the suspect identified as Johny Bolongaita, 45 years old, married, government employee and resident of said place by virtue of WOA issued by Hon Judge Dax G Xenos of RTC Branch 34, Cabadbaran City dated October 22, 2008, docketed under CC number CR-08-112 for estafa with recommended bailbond amounting to PhP 40,000.00. Arrested person is now under the custody of 143rd RMG Company for proper disposition.



Arrest of illegal gambling suspects

On Thursday (November 13) at 7:30 in the evening in Barangay Maasin, Pilar, Surigao del Norte, PNP elements of Pilar Municipal Police Station led by PINSP Joseph Geofrey P Lim arrested the suspects who were identified as Alyn Acido, 17 years old, single; Sandy Morial, 22 years old, single; and Domingo Morial, 51 years old, married, all resident of Barangay Maasin, Pilar, Surigao del Norte. Suspects were caught in the act engaged in illegal gambling locally known as “swertres”. Confiscated from the suspects’ possession were 29 pieces tally sheet; one unit Honda TMX motorcycle, color red with plate number LM 5797 and cash bet money amounting to Php 1,657.00. Suspects are now under the custody of Pilar Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.

Thursday (November 13) at 7:40 in the evening at the sidewalk of J.C. Aquino Avenue, Zacor, Barangay Tandag Sora, Butuan City, PNP elements of Butuan City Police Station 1 led by PSI Ronaldo Plaza conducted operation that led to the apprehension of the suspect identified as Arnold Hingan Bantog (usher), 35 years old, married and resident of Purok-20, Barangay San Vicente, Butuan City. Confiscated from the suspect’s possession were six pieces filled-up “swertres” tally sheet, one piece calculator, one ballpen and cash bet money worth Php 504.00. Suspect was brought to Butuan City Police Station-1 for proper disposition.

On Saturday (November 15) at 8:10 in the evening at the sidewalk of P. Burgos Extension, Barangay Tandang Sora, Butuan City, PNP elements of Butuan City Police Station-1 led by PSINSP Ronaldo Plaza arrested the suspect identified as Benjamin Saligan (usher), 37 years old, single and resident of said place. Suspect was arrested while caught in the act engaged in illegal gambling locally known as “swertres”. Confiscated from the suspect’s possession were nine pieces tally sheet, one calculator, one ballpen and cash bet money amounting to Php 940.00. Arrested person was brought to the Office of Vice Control Section Butuan City Police Office for proper disposition.
