BCWD launches Pamaskong Handog raffle promo

Butuan City Water District (BCWD) has launched the much-awaited 3rd Pamaskong Handog Raffle on Wednesday, November 19, 2008.

The promo is a way of showing BCWD’s heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to its concessionaires, especially those who have been paying their water bill on time and in full.

The raffle draw will take place on Friday, December 19, 2008, 10:00 in the morning at the BCWD Collection Lobby. A representative of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will be present during the draw to validate the result.

Prizes for this year include the following: 1st Prize - one Refrigerator (5 cubic feet); 2nd Prize – one Colored T.V. (21 inches, flat screen); 3rd Prize - one Sewing Machine; and five Consolation prizes like one DVD Player each for the three winners, and one sack of rice each for the two proclaimed winners.

The BCWD Management is inviting all its concessionaires to pay their water bill on or before December 18, 2008 for them to avail of the chance to win the prizes at stake.

To join, concessionaires must secure raffle coupons from BCWD Tellers and fill-up the required information. Drop the coupon at the designated drop box located at the Butuan City Water District Administration Building, Gov. J. A. Rosales Avenue, Butuan City.

Report on vehicular accident

On Wednesday (November 19) at 9:45 in the morning at Purok-5B, Barangay Poblacion, Trento, Agusan del Sur, one Suzuki Multicab with canopy color lavender, bearing plate number LET 514, owned and driven by Lolita Tango Encarnacion, 40 years old, widow, teacher by profession and resident of Poblacion, Trento, Agusan del Sur while traveling at said place accidentally bumped (head on) to Isuzu Forward dropsied cargo truck, color green, bearing plate number GKN 432, driven by one Florentino Sedan, 45 years old, married and resident of Maniki, Kapalong, Davao del Norte.

As a result, Lolita Encarnacion, who was the multicab driver and her passenger Gemary Mojeres sustained minor injuries and a damage of multicab left door, windshield and other accessories. The Isuzu forward truck also incurred damages on left front side and signal lights. Trento Municipal Police Station took cognizance of the case. Progress report to follow.


Arrest of Most-wanted person – Provincial level

On Tuesday (November 18) at 10:00 in the morning at Barangay Payasan, Lianga, Surigao del Sur, PNP elements of Lianga Municipal Police Station led by PINSP Ronel B Tesorero and elements of Surigao del Sur Provincial Police Office (PPO) arrested the suspect identified as Alfredo Ganillo Perater, 54 years old, married, farmer and resident of Paradise, Barangay Magsaysay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur who has a standing warrant of arrest (WOA) for the crime of murder under CC number 2004-7-2835 with no bailbond recommended and frustrated murder under CC number 2836-T with fixed bailbond of two hundred thousand pesos (Php 200,000.00).

Said WOA was issued by Hon Judge Merlyn Pacaro-Canedo, Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 29, Bislig City dated February 11, 2005. Suspect now temporarily detained at Bislig City Police Station for proper disposition.


Arrest of Most-wanted person

On Tuesday (November 18) at 2:15 in the afternoon at Sitio Bacud, Barangay Luna, Surigao City, PNP elements of Surigao City Police Station led by SPO4 Ceferino Armadilla Guzman Jr apprehended the suspect identified as Ronnie Refromado, 35 years old, married and resident of said place.

Suspect was arrested by virtue of WOA under CC number 15516-15517 dated October 13, 2008, issued by Hon Judge Charina Navarro-Quijano of MTCC Branch 11, Surigao City for violation of Batasang Pambansa Bilang 22 (Bouncing Check Law). Suspect is now temporarily detained at Surigao City Police Station for proper disposition.

Also, on Wednesday (November 19) at 9:20 in the morning at Barangay Ata-atahon, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, a certain Pedro Deloso, 51 years old, married and resident of said place was arrested by PNP elements of Nasipit Municipal Police Station led by PSI Robertito delo Pere by virtue of WOA docketed under CC number 13155-13159 for rape dated November 11, 2008, issued by Hon Judge Eduardo S Casals, RTC Branch 1, Libertad, Butuan City with no bailbond recommended. Arrested person is now temporarily detained at Nasipit Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.


RTWPB Caraga launches non-wage benefit program for minimum wage earners

In line with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s directives to cushion the impact of financial crunch in the Philippines, the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board (RTWPB) implements a Non Wage Benefits Program for the minimum wage earners.

In Caraga Region, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in coordination with RTWPB, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC), National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) scheduled a series of activities on Non Wage Benefit (NWB) Program.

The program was launched last November 11, 2008 at Barangay Libertad, Butuan City, in time with the launching of DOLE-RCC Service Caravan. RTWPB extended extra effort by identifying possible companies and suppliers to participate in the Promo Diskwento by selling their products at discounted price.

The launching was attended by about 300 OFWs, Rural Workers, IS, NGO and general public. The activities included the JOBS Fair; Promo Diskwento; AVA, distributor of detergent bars, Joy Table Sauce - manufacturer of JTS-Soy Sauce, Catsup and Vinegar; Marjeck, distributor of pancit canton and rice noodles; RALAV, distributor of nestle products like coffee, milk, juice drinks and dairy products; Monte Carne - processed meat products.

Meanwhile, same activity was conducted in Cabadbaran City Gym on November 14, 2008, attended by some 250 OFWs, Rural Workers, IS, LGU Officials and resident of Cabadbaran City.

Product distributors mentioned above also participated in the event together with Globe Telecom - e load promo (Free half kilo of rice for every 20 peso load); Cabadbaran Women Association – handicrafts; Display of used clothing “Ukay-ukay” that made the activity more fun.

The targeted clients of the said activities expressed their appreciation for the efforts exerted by the DOLE and its attached agencies, especially the RTWPB, for taking the time to reach grassroots customers and informed them of the various programs and projects of the department.

Six more NWB activities are scheduled on the following dates and places: Tandag, Surigao City - November 25, 2008; San Franciso, Agusan del Sur - November 26, 2008; Bislig City and Placer, Surigao del Norte will be conducted simultaneously on November 27, 2008 while in Surigao City will be on November 28, 2008; and DOLE Caraga, Butuan City on December 8, 2008.
