LGSF, LGU projects bring development closer to Cabadbaranon communities

BUTUAN CITY (PIA) — Farmers can now easily bring their produce to markets, children benefit from improved learning facilities, families gain better access to water and electricity, and communities become safer and more resilient as national and local government infrastructure investments reach Cabadbaran City in Agusan del Norte.
Mayor Judy Chin Amante highlighted during her State of the City Address the infrastructure development delivered through the Local Government Support Fund-Support to the Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP), with priority projects identified by local communities.
These include the construction and improvement of farm-to-market roads in La Union and Concepcion; a school building in Barangay Soriano; a water supply system in Calamba, Soriano, and Antonio Luna; and rural electrification projects in Sanghan and Antonio Luna.
“These projects bring essential services closer to the people and promote more inclusive development,” Amante said.
For beneficiaries, the projects are more than mere infrastructure; they represent improvements in their daily lives. Residents said the improved roads, water systems, electricity, school facilities, and other community infrastructure help make their communities more accessible, comfortable, and productive, while opening opportunities for better livelihoods and improved quality of life.
The initiatives support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure that government resources reach communities and address critical development gaps.
Nationwide, the FY 2026 LGSF-SBDP provides P8.08 billion for 808 cleared barangays, strengthening grassroots infrastructure and expanding access to essential services.
Meanwhile, the city government of Cabadbaran continues to implement its own infrastructure investments to complement the national government’s support. These include the P18-million Sitio Sumubay farm-to-market road, P11.7 million street lighting projects in Kauswagan, Bayabas, Calamba, Concepcion, Katugasan, Caasinan, and Mabini, and P10 million flood control projects along Calibunan Creek and Cabadbaran River.
The city also invested in the P9.9-million City Motorpool Bay and Guard House, drainage improvements along Maharlika Highway in Poblacion 12, level III water systems and rehabilitation of existing water facilities, and Materials Recovery Facilities in Del Pilar, Bayabas, Mahaba, and Puting Bato.
Public spaces are likewise being improved, including the P15-million Children’s Park phase VI, the P20-million Phase II of the Cabadbaran public memorial park, and the P10-million Rizal Park enhancement, providing communities with safer, more functional spaces for recreation, tourism, and civic activities.
“These strategic investments strengthen Cabadbaran’s foundation for sustainable growth,” Amante said, emphasizing that the projects go beyond physical structures by creating safer communities, improving access to essential services, expanding economic opportunities, and building a more resilient city for present and future generations.
