DINAGAT ISLANDS (PIA) — The Department of Agriculture turned over two units of agricultural vehicles to the provincial government of Dinagat Islands province on November 28.

Regional Executive Director Arlan M. Mangelen of DA Caraga, who personally participated in the ceremonial turnover, said, “Under the Kadiwa Financial Grant Assistance Program of the DA’s Agribusiness and Marketing Division (DA-AMAD), we turned over to the provincial government one unit of hauling truck and another unit of refrigerated van, both valued at P5 million.”

“This support aims to strengthen the supply chain of the agricultural sector in the province,” Dir. Mangelen added. “With these vehicles, the transport of farm products will be more efficient, ensuring that our local farmers deliver fresh produce to the market.”

The provincial government, under the leadership of Governor Nilo P. Demerey Jr.—through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg)—thanked the DA Caraga for the sustainable support to the local farmers, vowing that the province will contribute to food security and nation-building.

The two agricultural vehicles were received by Attorney Niel Edward M. Demerey, chief of staff of the provincial government, and by Provincial Agriculturist Rico B. Glainato.

Meanwhile, DA Caraga engaged the local farmers during the People’s Congress in Libjo, this province.

Mangelen vowed continued support for the agency to improve the livelihoods of farmers and fisherfolk.

In the event, DA Caraga also distributed vegetable seedlings, fertilizer, and other planting materials as assistance to the farmers who were recently affected by Typhoon Tino on November 4. (RLE, PIA Dinagat Islands with a report from DA Caraga/PIO Dinagat Islands)
