SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte (PIA) — The city government of Surigao received 19 land titles covering canals and pathways within the Don Inocencio Cortes Homeowners Association Inc. (DICHAI) in Barangay Taft during a recent ceremony turnover facilitated by the National Housing Authority (NHA) in Surigao City.
Ten
titles were issued for canals and nine for pathways, completing the DICHAI
community mortgage program.
With the
titles now under the city’s name, the city government of Surigao can ensure
proper maintenance and protection of these public assets for the benefit of the
residents of DICHAI community.
The city
government of Surigao continues to work closely with national government
agencies and local partners to support, secure and organize livable communities
by giving high regard to road responsibility.
The
turnover supported Presidential Decree No. 1216, which mandates that open
spaces such as roads, alleys, and similar infrastructure in residential
subdivisions be turned over to local governments or to the homeowners’
associations.
The said Presidential Decree, signed by then-President Ferdiinand E. Marcos Sr., was created to maintain a healthy environment in human settlements by providing open spaces, roads, alleys and sidewalks as may be deemed suitable to enhance the quality of life of the residents therein.
