(PAGASA 24-HOUR PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST as of Saturday, 19 July 2025) As of 3:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression “CRISING” was located at 530 km east of Juban, Sorsogon (13.0°N, 128.9°E). It has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h. It is moving west-northwest at 15 km/h. Tropical Depression Crising is currently affecting Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte, while the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continues to affect the rest of Mindanao. Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to TD Crising. Flash floods or landslides are possible during moderate to at times heavy rainfall. Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and the rest of Caraga will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms caused by the Southwest Monsoon. The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, also due to the Southwest Monsoon. Winds will be moderate from the southwest to west, with moderate seas (wave height: 1.2 to 2.5 meters).

SK officials express support to end teenage pregnancy


BUTUAN CITY -- The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of local government unit (LGU) of Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur formulated an action plan to support Executive Order No. 141 implementing the interventions in curbing the incidence of adolescent pregnancies in the locality.

This proactive stance of the young officials sought to elucidate the provisions of the order, emphasizing its relevance to the roles and responsibilities of SK Officials and also provided comprehensive insights into the implementation and significance of the executive order among the youth leaders.

The development of the action plan concretized the commitment of the SK leaders to realize the objectives of Executive Order No. 141, specific activities cited were as follows: interactive workshop and panel discussion and symposium of teenage pregnancy; prevention of repeat pregnancies of teenage mothers by providing assistance and tools to help avoid getting  pregnancy again; comprehensive sex education program among the youth in the community; conduct of health choices symposium; youth-friendly health services; and SK loyalty program providing awards to all youth who participate in every SK activity, and many more.

The Municipal Population Officer – Designate of the LGU – Prosperidad,  Ethel Zeljee M. Lim, expressed her gratitude to the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Caraga for the wholehearted  technical support  in the conduct of the orientation to foster a  deeper understanding of the executive order on local youth governance.

Lim cited that the activity served as a venue for SK officials to exchange ideas, address challenges, and cultivate a unified approach to effectively address the root causes of adolescent pregnancy and implement strategic interventions.

The orientation concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment among youth leaders to uphold the principles and mandates of Executive Order No. 141 and expressed their determination to leverage their position to effect meaningful change and improve the lives of young people in their respective barangays.

It can be recalled that the Executive Order No. 141 was approved and signed by then President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as a national priority in  the implementation of measures to address the root causes of the rising number of teenage pregnancies. (Angelita B. Antonio, CPD-Caraga/PIA-Agusan del Sur)
