(PAGASA 24-HOUR PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST as of Saturday, 19 July 2025) As of 3:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression “CRISING” was located at 530 km east of Juban, Sorsogon (13.0°N, 128.9°E). It has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h. It is moving west-northwest at 15 km/h. Tropical Depression Crising is currently affecting Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte, while the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continues to affect the rest of Mindanao. Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to TD Crising. Flash floods or landslides are possible during moderate to at times heavy rainfall. Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and the rest of Caraga will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms caused by the Southwest Monsoon. The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, also due to the Southwest Monsoon. Winds will be moderate from the southwest to west, with moderate seas (wave height: 1.2 to 2.5 meters).

DOT opens satellite office in Siargao

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -- The Department of Tourism (DOT) Caraga recently opened a new satellite office in General Luna, Siargao Island.

DOT Regional Director Ivonne Dumadag said, “the Siargao Island satellite office of the DOT will provide immediate and significant assistance and support to tourism-related activities.”

“With a visible manpower, collaboration and linkage  with local stakeholders on the island will definitely enhance the tourism experience of our local and foreign tourists, thereby boosting the local economy and the promotion of  sustainable tourism practices,” the director said.

Meanwhile, Provincial Tourism officer-in-charge Jolly Joyce C. Tibay bared that the provincial government of Surigao Del Norte under the leadership of Gov. Robert Lyndon S.  Barbers, through the Provincial Tourism Office, expressed gratitude on the opening of the DOT satellite office, aside from helping the tourism sector, it supported President Marcos Jr.’s National Tourism Development Plan 2023 to 2028 to develop the tourism industry through infrastructure, promotion, employment generation, connectivity and equal opportunities for all sectors.

"With the said opening, the whole new reformative tourism narrative of the province on Responsable, Lig-on, Sinsero, sanan may Baruganan (RLSB) or the RLSB Tourism Development Framework, under the care of Gov. Barbers will be realized as this development gives priority on accessibility and immediate response to the tourists' needs, as well as to aid the nine municipalities of Siargao Island to further enhance their tourism initiatives." Tibay added.

The inauguration of the new satellite office was witnessed by DOT Dir. Dumadag, chief of the Tourism Operations Office Tiara Julia Santos, DOT personnel, together with the Siargao Island tourism officers, local officials and tourism industry partners.
